The Asian Tiger Mosquito or Forest Mosquito (Aedes albopictus or Stegomyia albopicta) larvae lay their eggs in water, but they typically deposit them on the sides of containers like buckets or tires just above the standing water's surface. The eggs hatch into larvae when they are flooded by rain or other water sources, and the larvae then develop in the water. The Asian Tiger Mosquito is a member of the Culicidae family and a known vector for yellow fever, dengue, chikungunya, Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), West Nile virus, and Zika viruses. This photo is taken in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on November 1, 2025

Horses are kept in an enclosure near a house at an equestrian rehabilitation center in a village in the Zaporizhzhia region, Ukraine, on November 5, 2025. The founder of the center, Nina Kovaliv, works for many years as an accountant, including at a stud farm, where her love for horses begins. There she buys her first mare, Richka, saving her from slaughter. With the outbreak of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Nina starts rescuing horses from shelling and abandonment. Among them is Zara, a pony left behind in a garage when its owners evacuate, and a mare from the front-line village of Novodanylivka. To keep her horses, Nina opens the center in a village in the Zaporizhzhia region in June of this year, offering free services to veterans of the Russia-Ukraine war.
