17 February 2021

Bitcoin soared on Tuesday to an all-time high reaching the $50,000 milestone at $50.602. It has risen around 70% so far this year, with most of the gains coming after electric carmaker Tesla said it had bought $1.5 billion in bitcoin. And analysts say forecasts of bitcoin hitting $100,000 this year no longer seem far-fetched. Some investors believe it may become a mainstream asset class with the support of Jack Dorsey (founder of Twitter) or Jay-Z or Paypal which accept BTC. However the meteoric rise of bitcoin, which traded at a few hundred dollars only five years earlier, has also led major investment banks to warn of a speculative bubble.Toulouse. France.
