The streets of Mittenwald, Germany, on September 7, come alive with the sound of bleating as the village's sheep make their way from the high summer pastures back to the safety of the valley. Shepherds, along with their young helpers, guide the large woolly herd through the picturesque violin-making village. The shepherds' boys, dressed in traditional attire, walk confidently alongside the flock, their wooden staffs in hand, ensuring the animals stay on course as they head toward the Schafstadl above the Groblalm. The narrow village streets, lined with charming homes adorned with vibrant flower boxes, seem to step back in time as the sheep fill the road, their fleece a soft, moving sea of white, brown, and black.
