France's labour unions led a third wave of nationwide strikes and protests against President Emmanuel Macron's plans to make the French work longer before retirement. More than 40,000 people protested in Toulouses against the planned reform of pension and retirement age to 64 from 62, a move opinion polls show is opposed by a vast majority (93%) of workers already facing a cost-of-living crisis. The retirement age would be raised to 64 years (for 43 years of continued work) and the pensions will be lower specially for women, 'short careers' and low wages people. The COR (Counsel of Pension Guidance), which depends of the Prime minister Office directly, said on September 2022 in its latest report that it sees no needs to reform the pension system as it shares in the French GDP will remain steady at least 2070. Nearly all sectors unions called for this strike and protest : mining and energy, health, schooling sector, transportation, trucks drivers, refining workers, bank workers, etc. Toulouse. It's the 38th day of protests, strikes and actions. Protesters demand the withdrawal of the new reform of retirement (age, pension, conditions, etc.). Macron's governement proposes a change between a pay-as-you-go pension system by a system by points (capitalization)on an idea from Jean-Claude Delevoye . The "Nuit Debout" (ie All Night Up) movement held its 5th night on April 9th or as they say on March 40th in reference to the first night "Nuit Debout" held in Paris on the March 31st.This movement began in Paris, Place de la Republique after a massive demonstration on March 31th 2016 against the El-Khomri bill on labour reforms. The gathering has been held every night in Paris. People gather to protest against the El-Khomri bill, the state of emergency, the security laws, liberalism. The movement after started in Paris, spread in others French towns and begins to spread elsewhere in Europe (Berlin, Brussels, Madrid, Valladolid, etc.).
