This brings the total consumption to around 640 thousand metric tons by 2026, down from 685 thousand metric tons in 2021. Since 2017, the demand for goat meat drops by an average of 1.5% each year. India ranks second in the world for goat meat consumption, with China taking the top spot with 685 thousand metric tons in 2021. India, Pakistan, and Iran are the next top three countries in terms of goat meat demand.
