Ocimum tenuiflorum, commonly known as holy basil, tulsi or tulasi, and tamole, damole, or domole in Fiji, is an aromatic perennial plant in the family Lamiaceae. Basil is likely native to India and is widely grown as a kitchen herb. The herb can also be used to make freshly brewed tea by placing 2-3 teaspoons of holy basil the leaves, flowers, or dried leaf powder in a cup of boiling water and letting it steep for 5-6 minutes.
