Mycalesis visala, the Long-brand Bushbrown, is a species of satyrine butterfly found in South Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, and Peninsular Malaysia. It may include the Tamil Bushbrown as a subspecies. On the upperside, the wings are dull brown with an obscure yellow-ringed ocellus in space 2 of the forewing, and two obscure ocelli in spaces 2 and 3 of the hindwing. On the underside, both wings are pale brown in ground color and have a whitish post-discal band. There is a series of ringed ocelli in the submarginal area on both wings. When light falls on a Long-brand Bushbrown butterfly (Mycalesis visala) from behind, the light comes out through a small eye-like spot ocellus hole in the butterfly's wing in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on November 6, 2024.

Mycalesis Visala, The Long-brand Bushbrown, Is A Species Of Satyrine Butterfly Found In South Asia Like India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand And Peninsular Malaysia. It Might Include The Tamil Bushbrown As A Subspecies. The queen butterfly (Danaus gilippus) is a North and South American butterfly in the family Nymphalidae with a wingspan of 80-85 mm (3+1/8-3+3/8 in). It is orange or brown with black wing borders and small white forewing spots on its dorsal wing surface, and a reddish ventral wing surface fairly similar to the dorsal surface. The ventral hindwings have black veins and small white spots in a black border. The male has a black androconial scent patch on its dorsal hindwings. It is found in meadows, fields, marshes, deserts, and at the edges of forests.

The Dingy Bushbrown (Mycalesis perseus) is a species of satyrine butterfly found in South Asia and Southeast Asia. On the upperside, the wings are dark grayish brown with a large but obscure ocellus on the forewing. The male has a small, dark brown sex brand in the space of the forewing and another on the hindwing overlaid with a pale yellow hair tuft. Adults fly low in and around grassy patches at several locations across the island. As with other Satyrinae members, the adults fly in an erratic and jerky manner as their wings are closed for a relatively long period during flights. The Chestnut Bob (Iambrix salsala) is a butterfly belonging to the family Hesperiidae, found in parts of South Asia and Southeast Asia, including Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, North Vietnam, Hainan, Hong Kong, South Yunnan, Langkawi, Malaysia, Singapore, Tioman, Sumatra, and Java, along the Himalayas from Kumaon to Myanmar. Males and females are dark brown with an olive-brown gloss. On the upperside, the forewing has two or three ill-defined yellowish or semi-transparent white spots ascending obliquely from beyond the middle of the posterior margin. Although its flight is jerky, it basks in the morning by keeping its hindwing spread flat and its forewing perpendicular. They feed on flowers or herbs among grasses. A small bright dark brown Chestnut Bob butterfly with an olive-brown gloss sits on a weed leaf in the forest, occasionally flies away, and sits there again in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on October 6, 2024.

The Grass Demon (Ancistroides folus) is a small yet prominent butterfly found across Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Myanmar, China, Indochina, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Singapore, Borneo, and Indonesia. It typically inhabits deciduous and semi-evergreen forests and belongs to the skipper family, Hesperiidae. Considered an occasional pest of ginger and turmeric plants, this butterfly is most abundant in the open regions of hilly jungles. The Grass Demon prefers forest edges or clearings with dappled light, which may explain its distinctive black-and-white coloration. This pied pattern helps the butterfly blend effectively with its surroundings, making it difficult to spot once settled. When basking, it perches on the upper side of leaves with its hindwings pressed flat against the surface and its forewings held half-open at an angle above the hindwings. This unique posture sets it apart from other butterflies in Peninsular India. Additionally, on August 27, 2024, a Grass Demon was observed in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, sitting on a basil leaf or brick wall and feeding on the droppings of a Greater Coucal (Centropus sinensis) using its long proboscis, while occasionally mixing in some watery matter from its excretory organ.
