Ice chunks are seen on Diamond Beach near Jökulsárlón. October 19, 2022. Jökulsárlón is a lake with an area of 20 km2 and a depth of more than 200 meters. Until less than 100 years ago the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier (which is part of the Vatnajökull glacier) extended even beyond the ring road. Due to the increase in temperature has caused the glacier to retreat generating this impressive glacial lagoon.
