Sreejith is protesting outside the Kerala Secretariat building as he demands answers for his brother Sreejeev (who was killed in police custody) in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India, on April 13, 2024. Sreejith is protesting for 782 days seeking justice for Sreejeev before ending his protest. During the 782-day protest, Sreejith is requesting the CBI investigate his brother's death. SR Sreejith is alleging his brother was murdered by police who arrested him on the charge of stealing a mobile phone. His demand for an independent inquiry into his brother's death is picking up in recent months through the social media movement #JusticeforSreejith. He is ending the protest after federal investigators record his statement. In the face of mounting public pressure, state lawmakers are ordering an internal police investigation into his brother's death. But Mr. Sreejith is refusing, insisting that the case be transferred to India's federal investigation agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Police are saying Sreejeev, 26, committed suicide in custody after he was arrested, but his family is saying he was killed because he was in love with a woman who happened to be related to one of the police officers.
