The Hungry Horse Reservoir, located in Flathead National Forest, Montana, is seen on May 5, 2025, about 15 miles from Glacier National Park and framed by snowcapped peaks. Fed by mountain runoff and surrounded by old-growth forest, the reservoir and its tributaries offer sweeping views of the Northern Rockies. The images capture dramatic alpine terrain, crystal-clear waters, and a vibrant spring thaw, along with nesting ospreys perched high above the shoreline. Stretching 34 miles and bordered by more than 25 rugged peaks, the reservoir is one of the largest in Montana and serves as a major site for outdoor recreation, wildlife observation, and hydroelectric power.
