4th Day Of Attempt Of The Cnamo, Police Special Unit, To Dislodge 'ecureuils' Who Live In Tree On The Planned A69 Highway

A lumberjack cuts an ash tree where a squirrel lived hours ago. He is arrested. For the fourth day, Gendarmerie and CNAMO try to dislodge squirrels from the trees they occupy at the Verger ZAD (Zone to Defend). The Verger ZAD is situated on the planned and disputed A69 highway project. As Gendarmerie and CNAMO intervene, NGE/Atosca begins the destruction of the house and the cutting of all the trees. The CNAMO is a specialized unit of Gendarmes to unlock protesters. Squirrels live in the trees of the Verger ZAD. This day, Gendarmes of the CNAMO catch only one squirrel. Atosca cuts the tree immediately. They try without success to catch the other squirrels and mutilate Zineb, an old walnut tree, to catch two squirrels. The main collective 'La Voie est Libre' (The Way is Free) wants the highway to be stopped until all the justice decisions on the content are given. All expropriations for farmers are not cleared. Opponents of this project say that the reprofiling of the N126 will be sufficient for the 6,000 vehicles planned per day and would cost far less money. The A69 highway will cost EUR512 million (in 2018 euros without inflation) for 53 kilometers. More than 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural fields will be destroyed. 'Squirrels' Occupy Oaks In The 'Sherwood Forest' To Block The Building Of The A69 Highway

Two gendarmes, a man fom the Public works compagny eiffage and a lumberjack stand near an oak occupied by an 'ecureuil' (ie 'squirrel') to block its cutting for the building of the A69 highway. In the woods near Cuq-tToulza in the Tarn Departement on the planned A69, opponents to this project nicknamed the woods the 'Serwood forest that three people ('Ecureuils' ie 'squirrels') climbed on oaks to block their cutting for the building site. They were deprived of food, water and sleep by police during more than 36 hours. After the coming of the OPP (Police Practices Observatory), the support of opponents and a phone call to the Prefet by MP Karen Erodi, 'ecureuils' have been resupplied. A near-accident happened when a lumberjack let a tree fall on the rope connecting two 'ecureuils' and he knew what he was doing. The main collective 'La Voie est Libre' (ie 'The Way is Free') want the building of the highway to be stopped until all the justice decisions on the content to be given. All expropiations for farmers aren't cleared. Opponents at this project say that the reprofiling of the N126 will be suffisant for the 6,000 vehicles planned per day and would cost far less money. The A69 highway will cost EUR512 millions (in 2018 euros without the inflation) for 54 kilometers. More than 100 protected species and 400ha of agricultural fields will be destroyed. Cuq-Toulza.
