A memorial with candles and flowers stands outside the home where police work the crime scene following the arrest of Jamel McGriff, who is suspected of killing an elderly couple and then setting their house on fire in a murder and arson attack in Queens, New York, United States, on September 11, 2025. Jamel McGriff spends several hours inside the home of Frank and Maureen Olton in the borough of Queens before burning it to the ground, say investigators. The NYPD states that it is a ''horrific double homicide, robbery and arson.'' The 42-year-old suspect has a lengthy criminal history and is released on probation in 2023, say officials.
