The 'Belle of India' is a Jasminum sambac, an everblooming, very fragrant variety with long slender oval buds that open to pure white double blooms. Jasmine sambac is a small shrub or vine growing from 2 feet up to 10 feet in height. Its sweet fragrance, double pure white flowers, and upright vining habit make this cultivar of Jasminum sambac a pleasure to grow. Although a minimum indoor temperature of 60?F and good light are needed to reach its full potential, the fragrance emitted from the Jasmine 'Belle of India' makes finding that special place worthwhile. The flowers may be used as an aromatic ingredient in perfumes and jasmine tea. This photo was taken in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on June 7, 2024.
