A female demonstrator shouts slogans as she raises a placard that reads in Arabic, ''He does nothing for five years,'' during a demonstration organized by the Tunisian Network for Rights and Freedoms in Tunis, Tunisia, on September 22, 2024, to protest the draft amendment to the electoral law. Demonstrators contest the legitimacy of the upcoming presidential elections, scheduled to take place on October 6. They also protest against what they describe as violations of rights and freedoms by the regime, as well as against the populism, economic, social, and freedom policies of the outgoing president, Kais Saied, and his authoritarian rule. With less than three weeks to the vote and during the electoral period of the presidential elections, some thirty MPs submit a draft amendment to the electoral law to the Bureau of the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP), aiming to change a number of clauses in the law, according to which presidential election candidates will only be able to submit their complaints against the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) to the Court of Appeal instead of the Administrative Court.

Activists from LVEL (La Voie Est Libre, meaning 'The Way Is Free') and other associations are currently trying to pass through the riot police to resupply the 'Ecureuils' (meaning 'Squirrels'), who are living in the trees of the 'Crem'Arbre' ZAD (Zone To Defend) in Saix, Tarn, France, on March 1, 2024. Despite the efforts of MPs, including Karen Erodial, who also tried unsuccessfully, the Gendarmes Mobiles (riot police) are standing guard near the trees to block the supply of food and water by sympathizers. After two days of police efforts, only one 'Ecureuil' has been dislodged, but new trees are now being occupied by 'Ecureuils' in a new area called 'Cal'Arbre'. The main collective 'La Voie est Libre' is demanding that the construction of the A69 highway be halted until all judicial decisions have been made, noting that the expropriations for farmers have not been resolved. Opponents argue that the reprofiling of the N126 would be sufficient for the 6,000 vehicles planned per day and would cost far less than the EUR512 million (in 2018 euros, excluding inflation) for the 54-kilometer A69 highway, which threatens to destroy over 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural land.

Activists are standing in front of riot police with a placard that reads ''torture'' in Saix, Tarn, France, on March 1, 2024. Following the report by Michel Forst, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, which demanded the resupply of 'Ecureuils' living in the trees of the 'Crem'Arbre' ZAD (Zone To Defend), members of LVEL (La Voie Est Libre, meaning 'The Way Is Free') and other associations are attempting to get past the riot police to deliver supplies to the 'Ecureuils'. MPs, including Karen Erodial, have also tried unsuccessfully to pass through. The 'Ecureuils', or 'squirrels', are occupying trees to prevent them from being cut down for the planned A69 highway between Toulouse and Castres. The Gendarmes Mobiles (riot police) have intervened to clear the ZAD of all opponents and are now standing guard near the trees to prevent sympathizers from supplying food and water to the 'Ecureuils'. Despite two days of police efforts, they have only managed to dislodge one 'Ecureuil'. However, new trees are now being occupied by 'Ecureuils' at a new location called 'Cal'Arbre'. The main collective, 'La Voie est Libre', is demanding that the highway project be halted until all judicial decisions have been made, noting that not all expropriations for farmers have been resolved. Opponents argue that the reprofiling of the N126 would be sufficient for the 6,000 vehicles expected per day and would cost significantly less than the A69 highway, which is projected to cost EUR512 million (in 2018 euros, excluding inflation) for 54 kilometers, and would result in the destruction of over 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural land.

A member of LVEL is arguing with riot policemen in Saix, Tarn, France, on March 1, 2024. Following the report by Michel Forst, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, which demanded the resupply of 'Ecureuils' living in the trees of the 'Crem'Arbre' ZAD (Zone To Defend), activists from LVEL (La Voie Est Libre or The Way Is Free) and other associations are attempting to get past the riot police to deliver supplies. Despite efforts, including those by MPs like Karen Erodial, they have not succeeded. The 'Ecureuils' ('squirrels') have taken to the trees to prevent them from being cut down in the path of the planned A69 highway between Toulouse and Castres. The Gendarmes Mobiles (riot police) have intervened to remove all opponents from the ZAD and are now standing guard near the trees to prevent the 'Ecureuils' from receiving food and water from supporters. After two days, the police have only managed to dislodge one 'Ecureuil', but new trees are now being occupied by 'Ecureuils' at a new site called 'Cal'Arbre'. The collective 'La Voie est Libre' is demanding that the highway project be halted until all judicial decisions are finalized, noting that the expropriations for farmers have not been resolved. Opponents argue that upgrading the N126 would be sufficient for the anticipated 6,000 vehicles per day and would be much less expensive. The A69 highway is projected to cost EUR512 million (in 2018 euros, excluding inflation) for 54 kilometers, and its construction would result in the destruction of over 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural land.

An activist from the 'La Voie Est Libre' association is participating in a protest in the ZAD known as 'Crem'Arbre', located in the woods near Semalens in the Tarn Department, on the planned route of the A69 highway between Toulouse and Castres. Opponents of the project, including Swedish ecological activist Greta Thunberg, are currently organizing a weekend of protest called the 'Cabanacade' in Saix, France, on February 10, 2024. They are calling on activists and sympathizers to build huts for 'Ecureuils' (squirrels), who live in the trees, to prevent the trees from being cut down. Thunberg is criticizing the project for its potential to compromise the quality of life of local inhabitants and for the destruction it would cause to nature and agricultural fields. The 'Gendarmerie Mobile' riot police have intervened several times, using tear gas to intimidate protesters, as the protest is taking place on private lands. The 'La Voie est Libre' collective is demanding that construction of the highway be halted until all judicial decisions have been made, noting that not all expropriations for farmers have been resolved. Opponents argue that reprofiling the N126 would be sufficient for the anticipated 6,000 vehicles per day and would be much less costly. The A69 highway is projected to cost EUR512 million (in 2018 euros, excluding inflation) for 54 kilometers, and its construction would result in the destruction of over 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural land.

Arborist-climbers, known as 'squirrels,' are currently on trial at the courthouse in Toulouse, France, on January 17, 2024, for having blocked the cutting of trees near Verfeuil in protest against the construction of the A69 highway between Toulouse and Castres. Supporters have gathered to back the 'squirrels' and have constructed a mock concrete wall with the message 'A69 won't be built' and burned a fake Earth in demonstration. The 'squirrels' aim to protect the remaining trees not yet destroyed by the public works group NGE/Atosca, who are cutting trees despite unresolved legal procedures. Opponents, including Thomas Brail and the group 'La Voie est Libre' (The Way is Free), are calling for a halt to the highway construction until all judicial decisions are finalized, noting that not all expropriations for farmers have been settled. They argue that upgrading the N126 would be sufficient for the anticipated 6,000 vehicles per day and would be much less costly. The A69 highway project, with an estimated cost of EUR512 million (in 2018 euros, excluding inflation) for 54 kilometers, threatens over 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural land.

Supporters of the 'squirrels,' a group of arborist-climbers, are constructing a symbolic concrete wall near the Courthouse of Toulouse, France, on January 17, 2024, as a protest against the ongoing construction of the A69 highway between Toulouse and Castres. The 'squirrels' are currently on trial at the courthouse for obstructing the felling of trees near Verfeuil by occupying them. Sympathizers have gathered to show their support, creating a mock concrete wall where they are painting the message 'A69 won't be built' and burning a representation of the Earth. They aim to protect the remaining trees that the public works group NGE/Atosca has not yet destroyed. Despite ongoing legal proceedings, NGE/Atosca continues to cut down trees. A woman holds a placard reading 'Less richs, more hives'. For the 2nd time, citizens, NGOs, associations took to the streets to protest against the planned law 'Climate and Resilience' by Macron's government. Protesters demand a 'real Climate law'. French President Macron organized a Citizens Convention on Climate (CCC) with his promise that their conclusions would be transmitted without 'filters' to the French National Assembly. However, Macron didn't kept his words and played jokers on some propositions and finally, the bill was tansmitted to the Assembly with numerous 'filters'. The 150 citizens who worked in the Citizens convention on Climate noted the bill at 7 on 20. Climate experts say that the bill would do nothing to slow down the climate crisis. Similar protests took place elsewhere in France. On May 9th 2021 in Toulouse, France.
