Nepali passport applicants wait for their turn at various counters of the Department of Passport to get their passports issued in Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 19, 2025. Nepal delivers at least 5,000 passports daily throughout the country, but the vandalism and arson of various service-related offices during the Gen-Z protest delay the process, according to officials. Nepalis get their passports issued to go to Gulf countries in search of job opportunities. According to data from the Department of Foreign Employment, nearly 84,000 Nepalis leave the country for work in a single month, from mid-November to mid-December 2024, marking the highest figure recorded in the country's history of labor migration. As per the official numbers released by the department, a record-high number of Nepalis leave the country for employment between mid-November to mid-December (Mangsir, 2081 BS). Within a month, 83,933 Nepalis receive work permits from the Department of Foreign Employment, opening ways for them to travel to 96 countries. This data includes 70,500 men and 13,433 women, through both individual and institutional channels. Gulf countries share much of the portion, among which the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Qatar stand atop the list.

A sign in a clothing store in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on November 25, 2023, indicates that health officials are announcing that the rate of COVID-19 infection in Ontario, as measured by wastewater data, is currently at its highest point in more than a year. According to data released last week by Public Health Ontario (PHO), the province's COVID-19 wastewater signal has roughly doubled over the past month and is now at its highest since at least mid-November 2022. The Greater Toronto Area's wastewater signal is at its highest since January 6, 2022. Other indicators are also showing rapidly rising levels of viral activity as the temperatures drop and residents spend more time indoors. In the last week, 21,000 PCR COVID-19 tests were completed, resulting in a positivity rate of just over 20 percent in Ontario, which is nearly double the rates recorded in the summer.
