Mobilization for Patrick Zaki at the yellow bench in Villa Comunale in Molfetta on July 19, 2023. After Patrick Zaki's arrest in Cairo in February 2020 and 22 months of hard imprisonment for the ''crime'' of spreading fake news followed hearings and continuous postponements on July 18 he was sentenced to 3 years in prison. An absurd and outrageous verdict that comes at a time when this young man was getting closer and closer to the hope of finally being free again. Amnesty International has never stopped lobbying by keeping that light of hope shining on Patrick: in Molfetta, too, we mobilized for the release and liberation of an ordinary Egyptian boy, a student from Bologna, who was unjustly accused of a crime he never committed and who, during his 22 months of imprisonment in Egypt, suffered threats, violence and torture.
