A Polish truck driver stands for the seventh consecutive day in a queue to cross the border in Medyka as Polish farmers start a strike to block truck transport in Medyka - border crossing between Poland and Ukraine, on November 23, 2023. The farmers joined the transport sector in the strike against poor management of agricultural imports of Ukrainian produce as well as demand renegotiation of transport deals between Ukraine and the European Union. Medyka is the fourth strike site. Protesters already blocked 3 other crossings for truck transport, allowing only 4 trucks per an hour excluding humanitarian and military aid and sensitive chemical and food goods. According to the drivers, the queue to the Medyka crossing was nearly 7 days even before the strike started today.

This heatwave is due to a heat dome and is qualified as 'extreme for the intensity, the duration and for being in late summer'. More than 15 departments such as Haute-Garonne (Toulouse) are placed on red alert on heat. Red alert on heat is announced when night temperatures are above 26?C and day temperatures are above 40?C. Water restrictions are in place in all France, someplaces haven't drinking water and must be resupply with trucks. Toulouse. August 22th 2023.
