A ranger is wearing a hat with the ranger's coat of arms during a rally against proposed restrictions on logging in Warsaw, Poland, on July 12, 2024. Hundreds of rangers from the Polish governmental organization State Forests (National Forest Holding) are taking to the streets to protest against the Ministry of Climate and Environment's proposed project to restrict logging in the most valuable parts of the forests, such as old-growth forests aged 100-200 years, water-protective forests, and mountain forests. The rangers are demanding that the Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, and her deputy Minister Mikolaj Dorozala resign immediately as the proposed changes are putting their work and the state of the forests at risk. The State Forests is a Polish governmental organization that is managing state-owned Polish forests on behalf of the Polish State Treasury. The organization does not have a legal personality and is required to be financially self-sufficient.
