Founder Nina Kovaliv stands in front of a horse at an equestrian rehabilitation center in a village in the Zaporizhzhia region, Ukraine, on November 5, 2025. The founder of the center, Nina Kovaliv, works for many years as an accountant, including at a stud farm, where her love for horses begins. There she buys her first mare, Richka, saving her from slaughter. With the outbreak of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Nina starts rescuing horses from shelling and abandonment. Among them is Zara, a pony left behind in a garage when its owners evacuate, and a mare from the front-line village of Novodanylivka. To keep her horses, Nina opens the center in a village in the Zaporizhzhia region in June of this year, offering free services to veterans of the Russia-Ukraine war.

A protester holds a placard reading 'Too much blood, no justice, stop the slaughter!!' The Madagascan community of Toulouse gathers in Toulouse, France, on October 4, 2025, against the policies of Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina and his government, which protesters deem corrupt. In Madagascar, President Rajoelina resigns, but Madagascar Gen Z protesters also demand his resignation. Despite Madagascar's significant mineral wealth, biodiversity, and agricultural land, the Indian Ocean island nation is among the poorest countries in the world. At least 22 people are killed and more than 100 injured in the first few days of the protests. Protests grow since last week into the largest wave of unrest Madagascar has seen in years, tapping into widespread discontent with high levels of poverty and corruption.

Toulouse: Madleen's Supporter On Hunger Strike, Other Dislodged By Police During A Gathering

12 June 2025
Protesters are dislodged from the Capitole place in Toulouse, France, on June 11, 2025. People gather in Toulouse in support of the 'Madleen' flotilla after its illegal boarding by Israeli forces in international waters. Gatherers are pushed by police, who use tear gas canisters and pepper spray. Some members of the crew are still held in jail in Israel. The 'Madleen' aims to break the humanitarian blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza for nearly three months. On board are Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, Reva Viard, and Rima Hassan, an MP at the European Parliament. The ship carries humanitarian aid for Gaza. A man decides to begin a hunger strike until all captives of the 'Madleen' are freed and Israel ceases its blockade. Since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, the Gaza Strip has been leveled and decimated by Israel: more than 55,000 are killed, and 100,000 are injured. The U.N. estimates that up to 2 million people in the Gaza Strip--or more than 85% of the population--are forced to flee Israel's devastating bombing campaign and that all people in Gaza face starvation. Civilians bear the brunt of Israeli killings.
