Nepal’s Only International Football Stadium- Dasaharath Stadium Declared Unfit For Matches
2 September 2025

2 September 2025
A general view of the Dasaratha Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal, on September 2, 2025, shows it is declared unfit to host international matches by the AFC after inspection. The Dasharath Stadium, the country's only international-standard venue, is declared unfit by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in August 2025. A recent AFC inspection of the Dasharath Stadium raises serious concerns about the venue's infrastructure and safety standards. The AFC points out that the stadium lacks a modern automated watering system, proper drainage, and separate entry and exit points for players, officials, media personnel, and spectators. In addition, misaligned floodlights make evening matches nearly impossible. Following the inspection, AFC officials formally inform the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) that the stadium does not meet international requirements for Asian Cup qualifiers.
