The remains of Nepal's iconic Dharahara remain neglected in Kathmandu, Nepal, on April 25, 2025. Another replica of Dharahara is built in the same architectural style as the old one but with a larger diameter. It stands 72 meters tall with 22 stories. Nepal is hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which claims the lives of eight thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine people. More than 22 thousand are left injured, and properties worth billions are damaged in the disaster. According to official records, the earthquake damages more than half a million homes and other structures. As highlighted in the government's Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) report, Nepal ranks as the 11th most earthquake-prone country globally.
