Nepal's record-holding Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa carries his son as he walks out of the Domestic Terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on May 27, 2025, after becoming the first climber to summit Mount Everest four times in 15 days. Tashi rewrites history by summiting Everest four times within 15 days. The 29-year-old Sherpa from Phortse, Solukhumbu, creates history in mountain climbing on May 23, making his fourth successful ascent of Mount Everest in just 15 days. Tashi is also a member of the rope-fixing team from the 8K Expedition this year, who stands atop Everest on May 9, opening ways for other climbers to reach the summit. Tashi Gyalzen reaches the summit point at around 3:13 AM for the fourth time on May 23. The Sherpa climber this season climbs the world's highest peak on May 9, 14, 19, and 23. In 2019, he stands on Everest's summit for the first time. Since then, he has reached the peak three times from the Nepal side and once from the Tibetan side.

Prithvi Narayan Shah is born on January 7, 1723, as the first child of Nara Bhupal Shah and Kaushalyawati in the Gorkha Palace. He ascends to the throne of the Gorkha Kingdom on April 3, 1743, and starts the unification of Nepal. He is credited for moving the royal seat of power from Gorkha to Kathmandu. Before the unification, Nepal is divided into 52 principalities. King Prithvi Narayan Shah becomes successful in expanding Nepal's borders to the Tista River in the east to the Chepe River in the west. After his death, his successors further expand Nepal's western borders to Kangada.

The Bulgarian motor vessel Ruen is arriving at the Black Sea port of Varna, Bulgaria, on May 10, 2024. The ship, which was hijacked and had 17 of its crew taken hostage on December 14, 2023, while it was 600 Nm east off the Somali coast, is now returning. Three months after Somali pirates hijacked the bulk carrier Ruen (IMO: 9754903), Indian Navy commandos have successfully rescued all 17 crew members and captured 35 pirates. On March 23, the 35 pirates were brought to Mumbai and handed over to the police for prosecution.
