As the Biden administration backtracks on their promise to protect public lands from oil and gas leasing, the Karankawa protest Enbridge’s plans to expand their already controversial oil export terminal on the cost of Corpus Christi. The company’s recent plan involves building a pipeline that will transport tar sands from Houston to Corpus Christi bay. The recent developments prompted a duel demonstration: one in Houston and the other in Corpus Christi, to be held simultaneously. Pictured: Karankawa tribe, their allies, and other concerned locals hold a demonstration against Enbridge’s expansion on sacred land on April 23rd, 2022.

The announcement of a strict lockdown across Bangladesh has triggered a rush at Shimulia ferry terminal in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Jue 26, 2021, as droves of people look to leave Dhaka amid a surge in coronavirus infections and deaths. The ferries were jam-packed with thousands of passengers, with the health and safety directives mostly going ignored. The government is imposing a nationwide lockdown with tight restrictions for an indefinite period from June 28 to curb a worrying upturn in coronavirus cases and deaths. No one will be allowed to leave home without emergency reasons during the lockdown. All government and private offices will also remain shut, according to a government statement. Only the agencies providing emergency services will be open.

A drone view of Olive trees hit by 'Xylella Fastidiosa' in Lecce, in Puglia region, Italy on July 25, 2019. The region Puglia is the most hit region by the bacteria 'Xylella fastidiosa'. The pathogen causes Olive Quick Decline Syndrome (OQDS), a disease which causes withering and desiccation (extreme dryness) of terminal shoots, which then expand to the rest of the canopy, causing the tree to collapse and die. Italy declared a state of emergency over the crisis in 2015. The bacterium had never been seen in Europe until it was identified in 2013 in southern Puglia.
