University of California, Berkeley chancellor Dr. Rich Lyons, testifies at a Congressional hearing on antisemitism while a clock counts down time allotted to the questioning Representative, in Washington, D.C., U.S., on July 15, 2025. It is the latest in a series of House hearings on antisemitism at the university level, one that critics claim is a convenient way for Republicans to punish universities they consider too liberal or progressive, thereby undermining responses to hate speech and hate crimes.

Friends of slain teenager Jerhode ''Jemboy'' Baltazar open the casket door a final time before it is pushed to an alloted tomb at the La Loma Catholic Cemetery in Manila, Philippines on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Baltazar, a 17-year old who helps fish with his father, was killed by local policemen on August 2, 2023 who were in pursuit of a murder suspect, which Navotas City police chief Allan Umipig later admitted his officers mistook him for the actual suspect-at-large. The six policemen involved have been suspended and disarmed, facing homicide charges.
