Nepali journalists display placards calling on the government to backtrack on its decision to impose a ban on social media, citing non-compliance with its order to get registered, during a protest in Kathmandu, Nepal, on September 7, 2025. The protest is called by the former office bearers and members of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, the umbrella organization of journalists in Nepal. The participating journalists carry placards with slogans reading ''#NoBan,'' ''Freedom of Expression Is Our Right,'' ''The People's Voice Cannot Be Silenced,'' and ''Democracy Is Being Hacked, Dictatorship Is Coming Back,'' among others. Rage slowly increases in Nepal against the government's decision to shut down over two dozen social media platforms, which it claims is an effort to tax the revenue they generate in the country and to control content critical of the government. Following the order from the government, social media sites go dark past midnight on September 4.

Someone is writing 'Acab' on a pedestrian crossing. ACAB stands for All Cops Are Bastards. A spontaneous gathering and march are taking place in Toulouse, France, on July 1, 2024, against Marine Le Pen's National Rally (RN) after the party made historic gains to win the first round of a parliamentary election. The RN is an anti-immigration, eurosceptic party. The RN and its allies are winning Sunday's round with 33% of the vote, followed by a left-wing bloc with 28% and well ahead of President Emmanuel Macron's broad alliance of centrists, who are scoring just 22%. The left and the far-left are unionizing in a new umbrella called 'Front Populaire' (i.e., 'Popular Front'). President Emmanuel Macron is calling a snap legislative election, to be held in two rounds on June 30 and July 7, after his centrist alliance was trounced by the RN in last Sunday's European Parliament ballot.
