On February 11, 2026, in Mexico City, Mexico, health authorities extend the mass measles vaccination campaign, administering hundreds of vaccines at various Metro stations and other locations in the capital as part of a strategy to facilitate access for people who cannot go at fixed times that coincide with their daily activities. According to information from the Mexico City Health Department, measles is a viral disease that is easily transmitted through saliva droplets expelled by an infected person when coughing or sneezing. Symptoms appear between 10 and 14 days after infection. Initially, they often resemble a common cold: fever, dry cough, runny nose, sore throat, and eye inflammation (conjunctivitis). A very characteristic sign is Koplik spots, small white spots with a red background inside the mouth. Next comes the most visible phase: a red rash that starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body. At this stage, the fever can reach 40 or 41 ?C (104 or 106 ?F). The full illness usually lasts between two and three weeks.
