The hearing takes place as anti-ICE (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) protests spread from Los Angeles across the country.

The Catholic Conventual Franciscan Order opens its church to rally participants, providing access to restrooms and a place to rest during a protest calling for the arrest of President Yoon Suk-yeol, for whom an arrest warrant is issued, in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, Seoul, South Korea, on January 6, 2025. A Seoul Western District Court issues an arrest warrant for him over his failed attempt to impose martial law, marking the first time a sitting South Korean president faces such a scenario. The arrest warrant is valid until midnight on January 6, and authorities, led by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials and the National Office of Investigation, are expected to attempt his detention again before the deadline.
