The community claims that the takeover of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples takes place five years ago as an act of repudiation of the paramilitary attacks and counterinsurgency war against the National Liberation Army (EZLN) and the Zapatista communities, the dispossession of their lands for megaprojects, as well as against the peoples and communities belonging to the National Indigenous Congress and the Indigenous Governing Council. During this event, they reportedly denounce that, just as they have for 533 years, they continue to face discrimination, racism, contempt, murder, displacement, and genocide of their indigenous peoples and communities.
