03 December, 2025, Mexico City:On December 3, 2025, Farmers From Various Mexican States Protested Outside The Chamber Of Deputies In Mexico City Against The Bill Creating The New General Water Law. They Stated That It Will Directly Impact Nearly 600,000 People Who Currently Hold Water Concessions.The Federal Government Asserted That The Changes Are Necessary For A Fairer Distribution Of Water, But Has Encountered Opposition From Agricultural Sectors. The New Law Establishes The Following:Transfers Of Water Rights Between Private Individuals Will No Longer Be Permitted.Crimes Such As Water Theft, Which Was Not Defined In The 1992 Law, Will Be Prosecuted.Current Concessions Will Be Reviewed, As Thousands Of Irregularities Have Been Found.
