Russian drone hits maternity hospital in Odesa
A rescuer on a fire ladder is seen through a shattered window in a procedure room at Maternity Hospital No. 5 in Odesa, Ukraine, on March 28, 2026. On the night of March 28, a Russian UAV strikes the hospital, which houses 22 newborn babies, including critically low-birth-weight twins. The hospital's bomb shelter is equipped with intensive care facilities for newborns, allowing ventilation to continue there. Postoperative patients are transferred to the intensive care unit in the shelter. Before rescuers arrive, doctors use fire hoses and extinguishers to put out fires in the building and on the roof.
