Giant Idols Of The Pandavas Displayed During The Panguni Utsavam Festival
Giant idols of the Pandavas erected along the eastern entrance of the historic Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple during the Panguni Utsavam (Painkuni Utsavam) festival in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India, on April 15, 2022. The temple which is more than 260 years old recently came into the spotlight after gold coins and precious stones worth 500 billion rupees (USD 11.2 billion) were found in its vaults. The large idols of the Pandavas are made of wood and fiber glass and represent Yudhisthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva. They are decorated with intricate faces with bulging eyes, colorful head gear and long tresses and nails. Yudhisthira alone is installed in the sitting posture with his right leg on his left thigh.
