OULX, Italy 03/10/2023 Lucia works as a legal assistant for the Waldensian Diaconia at the Massi refuge for a few days each week. She has reported a significant increase in the number of migrant people at the refuge, including a growing number of those who were rejected by the border police.?On 03/10/2023, a significant number of migrants, mostly from sub-Saharan Africa, gathered at the Oulx refuge in Italy before attempting to cross into France. The Massi refuge, which is managed by volunteers and an association, has reported an unprecedented number of daily attendees, exceeding 200 people. The migrants are attempting to cross the border undetected by the French border police (PAF) between Claviere in Italy and Montgenevre in France, and then proceed to Briancon, where the train station is located.
