OULX, Italy 03/10/2023 Migrants attempt to cross the border by moving through the woods, trying to avoid detection by the French Border Police.?On March 10th, 2023, a significant number of migrants, mainly from sub-Saharan Africa, attempted to cross from Italy to France through the mountain forests in order to escape the French border police (PAF). The migrants were trying to cross the border undetected between Claviere in Italy and Montgenevre in France, before continuing towards Briancon, where the nearest French train station is located. The Massi refuge's last stop in Italy before the border, managed by volunteers and an association, recorded an unprecedented number of daily occupants, exceeding 200 people.
