Amazon Drought
Manaus, 3rd Oct 2023 - A mixed area of fields and Amazon rainforest is burning uncontrollably, while nearby residents attempt to contain the flames. In October alone, INPE (National Institute for Space Research) detected 3,060 fire outbreaks in the state of Amazonas, at the peak of the worst drought ever experienced by the Amazon rainforest. This crisis has positioned the state as the second-largest victim of these intentional fires, a relatively new issue in this region, located in the heart of the Amazon.
