Amazon Drought
Amazonas, 8th Oct 2023 - Forest fires are spreading across vast areas in the Manacapuru region, in the central part of Amazonas. Within the first 16 days of October alone, INPE (National Institute for Space Research) detected 3,060 fire outbreaks in the state of Amazonas, at the peak of the worst drought ever experienced by the Amazon rainforest. This crisis has positioned the state as the second-largest victim of these intentional fires, a relatively new issue in this region, located in the heart of the Amazon.
