The Castellers de Vilafranca from Catalonia are preparing to perform in the Zocalo of Mexico City, presenting the creation of human towers for the first time in Mexico. These towers are one of the most authentic and unique cultural expressions in Europe, with a history spanning over 200 years. Celebrating their 75th anniversary this year, the Castellers de Vilafranca honor their historical ties of friendship with Mexico, a country that has been a place of exile and welcome for thousands of Catalans following the Spanish Civil War from 1936 to 1939.
