Castellers De Vilafranca In Mexico
The Castellers de Vilafranca from Catalonia are creating human towers in the Zocalo of Mexico City, showcasing for the first time in Mexico one of Europe's most genuine and unique cultural traditions, with a history spanning over 200 years. Celebrating their 75th anniversary this year, the Castellers de Vilafranca honor their historical ties of friendship with Mexico, a country that has been a place of exile and welcome for thousands of Catalans following the Spanish Civil War from 1936-1939.
