A Funeral Ceremony Of Ukrainian Poet And Serviceman Maxym Kryvtsov In Kyiv, Amid Russia's Invasion Of Ukraine.

Nadia and Oleksandr, the parents, are reacting next to the coffin of their son, Ukrainian poet and serviceman Maxym Kryvtsov, who was killed in action against Russian troops, during a farewell ceremony on Independence Square in Kyiv, Ukraine, on January 11, 2024, amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Hundreds of Ukrainians are coming to honor the memory of the fallen poet and soldier Maxym Kryvtsov, 33, known by the call sign ''Dali,'' and to say their goodbyes. Maksym, who became the author of the book ''Poems from the loophole,'' recognized as one of the best Ukrainian books of 2023, participated in the Revolution of Dignity and then volunteered to go to the front in 2014. He fought as part of the 5th battalion of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps ''Right Sector'' and with the ''Da Vinci Wolves.'' Until 2019, he served as a senior machine gunner in the Rapid Response Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine ''Rubizh.'' Maxym volunteered to join the Ukrainian army again in 2022 when the full-scale Russian invasion began. During the farewell, recordings of Maxim's poems are being played, read by his own voice, on Independence Square in Kyiv. (Photo by STR/NurPhoto)
