Polo Bawa Fishing Festival 2024
Rural people in Sylhet, Bangladesh, are celebrating the 100-year-old winter polo bawa fishing festival with bamboo fish traps and handmade fishing nets at the Gowahori beel of Biswanath upazila on January 15, 2024. Locals say that the festival is celebrated every year on the first day of the Bangla month of Poush, and people from different parts of the Upazila come together at the beel with various kinds of fishing traps to participate.
