Farmers Protest In Toulouse
Farmers are protesting in Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2024, with tractors bearing signs that read 'Proud to feed you'. The FDSEA and JA farmers unions have called their members to demonstrate, urging the government for assistance. They are blocking the streets and protesting against the increase in water usage fees, taxes on biocides, and the implementation of the EGAlim law, while demanding the French government to ''cut the red tape''. During the protest, farmers are pouring manure and waste at the entrance of buildings housing several agriculture-related agencies, including Ademe, the Adour-Garonne water agency, and the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity). Attempts by some farmers to break into the building are being thwarted by Gendarmerie and Police officers. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
