WHO: Beat Leprosy

A prosthetic leg is lying beside a pillar in the Sicanang settlement, which is experiencing tidal flooding in Medan, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia, on July 3, 2012. The World Health Organization is promoting ''Beat Leprosy'' as the theme for World Leprosy Day 2024. They are working to eradicate the stigma associated with leprosy and to promote the dignity of those affected by the disease. The commemoration is serving as a reminder of the importance of addressing both the social and psychological aspects of leprosy, as well as the medical efforts to eliminate it. This call to action is encouraging the world to understand that leprosy should no longer be a source of stigma, but rather an opportunity to show compassion and respect for all individuals.
