Animal Activists Protest Against The Return Of Bullfighting In Mexico City

Members of various animal rights groups are demonstrating outside the Plaza Mexico in Mexico City, demanding an end to bullfighting in Mexico. They are chanting slogans such as ''torture is not culture'' and ''bulls yes, bullfighters no,'' calling for the total closure of the Plaza de Toros. In June 2022, Federal Judge Jonathan Bass had granted the suspension of bullfighting after an injunction was filed by the civil association Just Justice, which argues that the degrading treatment of bulls violates the right to a healthy environment. However, the entrepreneurs of the Plaza de Toros challenged the decision, and it was reversed, allowing bullfighting to resume in the capital on Sundays. (Photo by Gerardo Vieyra/NurPhoto)
