Mourning For H.S.R. Vittorio Emanuele Of Savoy's Death
Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy (L), Serge of Yugoslavia, Princess Helene of Yugoslavia, and her husband, Stanislas Fourgeron, are sitting near the coffin of Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia in the Saint Hubert Chapel at the Reggia of Venaria Reale, near Turin, Italy, on February 9, 2024, on the eve of his funeral ceremony. Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, who passed away in Geneva on February 3, 2024, was the son of Umberto II di Savoia, the last king of Italy, and Maria Jose. The Italian Republican Constitution, which came into effect on January 1, 1948, had established a ban on the entry and residence of former sovereigns, their consorts, and male descendants of the House of Savoy in the national territory, but this exile ended at the end of 2002. The funeral of Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia is set to take place in the Duomo of Turin on February 10, 2024. (Photo by Mauro Ujetto/NurPhoto)
