Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, the son of Umberto II di Savoia, the last king of Italy, and Maria Jose, passed away in Geneva on February 3, 2024. After the Italian Republican Constitution was enforced on January 1, 1948, former sovereigns, their consorts, and male descendants of the House of Savoy were banned from entering and residing in Italy, a ban that was lifted in late 2002.
