President Of Germany Is Guided In Old Nicosia

Constantinos Yiorkadjis, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Nikos Christodoulides are posing in front of a barricade in Nicosia, Cyprus, on February 12, 2024. The President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is being guided by the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Mayor of Nicosia, Constantinos Yiorkadjis, to the old city of Nicosia. They are visiting the barricades that separate the Greek and Turkish sides of the city, also known as the ''Green Line.'' Nicosia remains the last divided European capital. This visit marks the first by a German President since the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960 and the commencement of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
