President Of Germany Is Guided In Old Nicosia
President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany is touring the old city of Nicosia, Cyprus, on February 12, 2024, accompanied by President Nikos Christodoulides of Cyprus and Nicosia Mayor Constantinos Yiorkadjis. They are visiting the ''Green Line,'' the barricades that separate the Greek and Turkish sides of the city. Nicosia is the last divided European capital. This marks the first visit by a German President since the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960 and the start of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
