February Full Moon - "Snow Moon", "Hunger Moon"
The second full moon of February 2024, known by many names such as ''Snow Moon,'' ''Hunger Moon,'' or ''Minimoon,'' is occurring when the moon is exactly on the opposite side of the Earth from the sun. According to NASA, this full moon is appearing opposite the sun (in Earth-based longitude) on Saturday morning, February 24, 2024, at 7:30 AM EST. The full moon in February is missing the Earth's shadow because the moon's orbit is tilted by five degrees to the plane of the Earth's orbit, which means the Earth won't be directly between the sun and the moon. The ''Snow Moon'' is being seen through the gaps in the branches and leaves of the trees in a forest in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on February 24, 2024. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
