Nepali Buddhists Mark The Festival Of Samyak Mahadan
A Nepali Buddhist devotee is resting between the idols of Buddha during the procession of Samyak Mahadan at Nagbaha in Lalitpur, Nepal, on March 14, 2024. Observed every five years, the Vihars within the Kathmandu Valley are bringing out all the idols of Buddha, followed by thousands of devotees who are queuing to worship and offer alms. This festival has been celebrated in Lalitpur for more than seven centuries, having started from Nepal Sambat 135 or 1015 AD, during the Licchivi Period of Nepal's ancient history.
