Nepali Buddhists Mark The Festival Of Samyak Mahadan
Nepali Buddhist devotees are making offerings to idols of Buddha that have been brought to the Nagbaha in the ancient city of Lalitpur for the Samyak Mahadan on March 14, 2024. Observed at an interval of five years, the Viharas inside the Kathmandu Valley are bringing all the idols of Buddha, followed by thousands of devotees queuing to worship and offer alms. This festival has been celebrated in Lalitpur for more than 7 centuries, having started from Nepal Sambat 135 or 1015 AD, during the Licchavi Period in Nepal's ancient history.
