Onondaga County Sheriff Crime Lab Collects Evidence At Suspect Residence
Police officers and evidence technicians from the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office are collecting evidence at the home of deceased suspect Christopher R. Murphy on Darien Drive in Salina, New York, United States, on April 16, 2024. On the evening of Sunday, April 14, 2024, two police officers were killed by Murphy, and the suspect was killed by police in an exchange of gunfire. On that Sunday, two Syracuse, New York police officers attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle but were unsuccessful. However, they found the license plate and tracked it to the address on Darien Drive in Salina, New York. After discovering that the suspect could be armed, the police officers requested assistance from the sheriff's office. They located the vehicle at the home and observed possible weapons inside the vehicle, leading to an exchange of gunfire with the suspect. The Syracuse, New York police officer, Michael Jensen, 29 years old, from Rome, New York, and Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Hoosock, 37 years old, from Clay, New York, were identified as the officers killed in the gunfire exchange on Sunday evening in Salina. All three individuals, the two officers and the suspect, were shot and transported to a hospital in Syracuse, where they were pronounced dead. (Photo by Kyle Mazza/NurPhoto)
